- Refrain from drinking soda and avoid the intake of excess sugar. These are empty calories that will work against your surgery’s goal.
- Do not eat mindlessly, but eating small meals throughout the day will keep energy levels stable and restrict binging or overeating.
- Never skip a meal, especially breakfast; studies have shown that those who eat a healthy breakfast every morning are more likely to stave off excess weight gain.
- Maintain a low-fat and lean diet. Foods such as turkey, skim milk, low-fat yogurts and snacks are a good choice. Stay well hydrated. Fluids help the body to digest and to expel toxins and fat.
- Engage in a regular exercise routine (at least twenty to thirty minutes per day) in order to give metabolism a boost and help keep the appetite in check.
