Brazilian Butt Lift: Candidates, Procedure, Recovery, Costs

The Brazilian butt lift has become incredibly popular in recent years. Though many women believe that the procedure was developed to give women a bigger rear end, in actuality, what has fueled its popularity is not its ability to increase the size of the buttocks. Rather, the Brazilian butt lift has become popular because it makes the buttocks appear more youthful and perkier. By using liposuction around the buttocks to provide more definition in this area and then injecting the woman’s own fat cells into the upper quadrants of the buttocks, plastic surgeons are able to give women lift and roundness that was previously lacking.

The Brazilian butt lift is essentially two procedures wrapped up into one. Because fat must be harvested from another area of the body for injection into the buttocks, women receive liposuction on their abdomen, outer thighs, or the area just above the buttocks. The plastic surgeon sculpts this area of the body so that it will complement the final results of the Brazilian butt lift and provide the patient with a slimmer, more sensual appearance.

Most plastic surgeons recommend the Brazilian butt lift over silicone buttock implants because fat transfer to the buttock allows women to use their own natural fat tissues to increase the roundness and perkiness of their derriere. There is a diminished risk of infection using fat transfer in comparison with buttock implants. And because the fat tissue is a naturally occurring substance, women who get a Brazilian butt lift procedure don’t have to worry about the health consequences of introducing a foreign substance like silicone into the body.

The Brazilian butt lift has become popular because the procedure can help women achieve a slimmer waistline or thighs as well as a more attractive behind. The combination of liposuction and fat transfer produces striking results using completely natural substances that are derived from the woman’s body itself. The procedure is able to give a youthful appearance to the body while slimming and redistributing fat more attractively.

Who is a good Candidate for a Brazilian butt lift?

First and foremost, Brazilian butt lift patients must be healthy, non-smoking individuals who are able to withstand the surgical procedure. Patients should have realistic goals for the procedure and their physique should lend itself well to the benefits offered by a Brazilian butt lift. In some instances, plastic surgeons may recommend a formal butt lift rather than a Brazilian butt lift, if the buttocks are sagging significantly over the buttock crease. The best candidates for a Brazilian butt lift are patients who are simply lacking fullness and perkiness in their derriere.

One of the most important factors that a plastic surgeon will consider when determining whether a particular patient is a good candidate for the procedure is whether or not the patient has enough fat on the body to be transferred and the location of the fat stores. Often, 6 to 7 Liters of fat and other fluids are removed during the liposuction portion of the procedure. Approximately 1.5 to 2.0 Liters will be usable fat. In other words, women who are interested in a Brazilian butt lift, must have at least this amount of fat on the body, in the appropriate locations in order to be good candidates for the procedure.

Finally, patients need to be able to commit to the time it takes to recover from this type of procedure. Patients should expect to take at least 4 weeks off from work and normal activities following a Brazilian butt lift. Full recovery is usually realized within 6 weeks to two months post-op.

Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure

A Brazilian butt lift is not just a surgical procedure to give you bigger buttocks. Though it is a butt augmentation treatment, the results are geared toward producing a more youthful, prominent rear that will complement the rest of the patient’s physique. Though the patient may have a slightly bigger butt following the procedure, the results should be complementary to the other features of a patient’s body.

The Brazilian butt lift procedure takes between 4 and 6 hours and begins with a local anesthetic applied to the buttocks and to the area of the body that is going to be treated with liposuction. The patient may also be given a sedative that will help them relax throughout the procedure. Liposuction is used to harvest the fat cells that will later be injected into the buttocks. Where fat is harvested on the body using liposuction will depend on a number of different factors that you’ll discuss with your doctor before the procedure.

After the anesthetic has taken full effect, the doctor will begin by doing liposuction first around the buttocks and then on the target area. Liposuction involves the use of a hollow tube called a cannula attached to a suction machine. The cannula is inserted through tiny incisions made in the treated areas. Fat cells are then suctioned up through the cannula into a storage container. These fat cells will be injected into the buttocks later after they have been properly purified.

The plastic surgeon first performs liposuction around the buttocks to sculpt the area and make it stand out more. The areas of the body that are commonly used as harvest sites for the fat cells include:

  • the outer thighs
  • abdomen
  • the lower back, just above the buttocks.

By doing liposuction on one of these target areas, the plastic surgeon will be able to sculpt the body to enhance the final results of the butt lift. The plastic surgeon will be sure use liposuction to harvest the fat from both sides of the body such that it produces a symmetrical look.

After liposuction is performed on the targeted area or areas of the body, the plastic surgeon will then begin the process of purifying the fat cells. Different surgeons use different methods to perform this part of the procedure. Purification and preparation of the fat cells is essential to their survival after they are injected into the buttocks.

Once the fat cells are properly prepared to be injected, the plastic surgeon will move on to the third and final stage of the procedure. During this phase, the surgeon injects carefully selected fat cells into the buttocks. Not all the fat cells that are harvested are of a high enough quality to inject. The plastic surgeon selects the fat cells that are most likely to survive after injection, which is usually only a small fraction of the cells that were initially removed from the body using liposuction.

The re-introduction of fat cells into the body involves hundreds of injections that will fill the upper portion of the buttocks to give it the characteristic perkiness and “lift” that patients desire. This part of the procedure is performed with specialized cannulas (hollow tubes) that allow the surgeon to inject fat cells throughout the treated area into different layers and areas of the buttocks as needed. After this part of the procedure is complete, the doctor closes any incisions and the patient is moved into a recovery area to await the okay to go home.

Brazilian Butt Lift vs. Silicone Butt Implants

There are two different ways to increase the volume and perkiness of your buttocks: fat transfer and silicone implants. Typically, plastic surgeons will recommend that you have fat transfer (the procedure that produces the Brazilian butt lift) rather than butt implants. Fat transfer to the buttocks has a lower risk of infection and other issues than butt implant surgery. However, women who have very little fat on other parts of their body may be recommended for silicone butt implants rather than a fat transfer procedure.

One of the other advantages of fat transfer over buttock implants is that fat transfer to the buttocks is like two procedures in one! Women who undergo a Brazilian butt lift get to enjoy the appearance of a perkier, more youthful derriere as well as a slimmer physique in other areas of the body such as the abdomen or outer thighs as a result of the liposuction procedure.

How long do the results of a Brazilian butt lift last?

The results of a Brazilian butt lift should be long-lasting given that the procedure is performed correctly and the patient follows their doctor’s instructions during recovery. Fat cells that are injected into the buttocks become a permanent fixture in their new location as long as the purification and preparation process is performed correctly. No plastic surgery is able to provide permanent change to the body, but a Brazilian butt lift is a procedure that can create results that will last for many years as long as the patient takes care of herself.

Recovery from a Brazilian Butt Lift

Though some doctors allow patients to go home shortly following a butt lift procedure, many keep patients overnight in the hospital for observation. Talk with your doctor about whether or not you will be kept overnight following your butt lift procedure.

The recovery period from a Brazilian butt lift procedure is an important phase that will contribute a great deal toward the outcome of your surgery. It is vitally important that patients adhere to their doctor’s instructions regarding proper behavior during recovery. For example, smoking after a fat transfer procedure can seriously diminish blood flow to the newly transplanted fat cells which could contribute to their death. If a lot of fat cells die following a fat transfer procedure, the effects of the surgery are nullified.

Your doctor will give you special instructions about sitting and lying down that you will need to follow after the Brazilian butt lift procedure. You will not be able to sit directly on your buttocks for two to three weeks following the procedure in order to ensure a longer-lasting result. This is one reason why patients may not be able to return to work right way. Patients will also need to sleep on their sides or their bellies for two to three weeks for the same reason. Your doctor will be able to provide you with tips on how to feel comfortable during your recovery while still protecting the newly transplanted fat cells and giving them the opportunity to develop their own blood supply.

Because the Brazilian butt lift procedure involves both liposuction and fat transfer, there will be two areas of your body that will be affected during recovery: the harvest site and the buttocks. The harvest site where liposuction was performed will need to be cared for using compression garments. You may also be given a special garment to wear around your buttocks to help provide additional support to the area and control swelling.

How long is the Brazilian butt lift recovery period?

In order for a Brazilian butt lift to be successful, the new transplanted fat cells must develop their own blood supply and all the tissues surrounding the new transplants must “knit” themselves together by an extra cellular matrix. The recovery period following a Brazilian butt lift gives the patient’s body enough time to perform these important tasks.

The first 3 to 4 days following the butt lift, blood vessels develop into fat grafts. Over the next few days, these blood vessels get stronger. Over the next one to two weeks, the extracellular matrix around the fat graft also gets stronger and more able to withstand normal stressors.

Most patients experience a near complete recovery within about 3 weeks after the procedure. However, some patients may experience a longer recovery period. Patients should expect not to sit on their buttocks for at least 3 weeks after the procedure. Sitting on the buttocks can diminish blood supply to the newly transplanted cells which could cause them to die. Squatting or stretching can also create problems with the new transplanted tissue. Stretching and squatting can cause stress on the tissues that also cuts off the blood supply.

By about 4 to 6 weeks post-op, most patients can see the results of their surgery and begin to feel like themselves again. Every procedure is different and some patients may take a longer or shorter period of time for a full recovery, but the key is to take good care of yourself and follow your doctor’s instructions for best results. Tips for a Successful Recovery from a Brazilian Butt Lift

  • Do not sit on your buttocks until 2 to 3 weeks post-op.
  • Move and walk around to stretch your legs and keep the blood flowing to reduce the risk of clots.
  • Take medications prescribed by your doctor on time and in the correct dosage.
  • Wear the compression garments provided by your doctor.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and keep your body adequately hydrated.
  • Use a special pillow to help keep pressure off your buttocks once your doctor gives you permission to sit.
  • Set up your home environment before surgery and make sure you have movies, magazines, and other supplies on hand to entertain you during your recovery period.

Brazilian butt lift Costs in Dubai

The cost of a Brazilian butt lift varies from one plastic surgeon to the next based on a number of different factors. These factors include:

  • Skills, experience, and training of the plastic surgeon
  • Facility fees
  • Fees associated with anesthesia
  • Amount of fat to be transferred
  • Miscellaneous costs such as prescription medications, lab work, and compression garments, and post-operative visits to the doctor, and time off from work

The total cost of a Brazilian butt lift usually ranges between 25,000 and 50,000 AED depending on the various factors involved. Patients should keep in mind that the high cost of this procedure is mostly due to the fact that they will get the benefits of both liposuction and buttock augmentation and the costs reflect the extra resources required to perform both of these procedures in one treatment session.
